1. Please introduce yourself to BloggersPassion readers?
Hey Anil, First of all thanks a lot for having me on your blog. I am Jitendra Vaswani professional blogger and affiliate marketer founder of the internet marketing blog BloggersIdeas. Blogging blogging blogging it is in my blood. I am blogging since 2 years now and have exp of 5 years in digital marketing. I have done job for 2.5 years and after realising that job is not my thing so I decided to be independent an internet marketer and travel the world with no restrictions.
I am running several blogs and also soon next year Jan 2016 I am launching my own WordPress plugin which would be helpful for bloggers. It will be a paid plugin and I will also be having an affiliate program for bloggers to earn handsome commission.
Takeaway: Most beginners think blogging as a get rich quick scheme when it’s really not. It takes a lot of time and consistent efforts to start making money online and make your own mark in blogging world. That’s what Jitendra did to become successful in a crowded Internet marketing world.
2. What inspired you to start blogging? What are your favourite blogs that made you what you are today?
My inspiration to blogging was to learn more about SEO and make money online. I Googled how to make money online through blogs so I found some blogs and then I understand that bloggers make money by blogs. So I followed some blogs like :
These were my favorite blogs who helped to learn blogging & internet marketing. I will always recommend newbie to follow some blogs to learn about blogging & latest trend in digital marketing. Don’t go for shortcuts always learn basics first and then keep on learning everyday by reading blogs.
Takeaway: Reading more blogs and gaining knowledge is what makes a person successful. If you are not learning enough about your industry, you will never become an authority in your niche. To make more money online, you need to find the expert blogs in your niche, find out what they are doing and replicate the same things on your blog to succeed.
3. What are the skills that can help a beginner to start living a laptop lifestyle?
To live a laptop lifestyle newbies need to focus on choosing a proper niche for their blog, once they have right niche then they can start building a blog and work on that blog to make money.
Also never depend on single resource of income, keep exploring other niches too and keep experimenting. If you depend on single blog or resource then you will be in trouble as Google can penalize your blog any time with their algorithms.
Takeaway: Focusing on writing content for few topics is always a better idea to gain audience. If you are covering too many topics under the sun, you will never stand out. To live a laptop lifestyle, you also need to start finding other income sources. Never put all your eggs in one basket as Google can penalize your site any time.
4. What are your income sources? How much do you make every month at an average?
My main income resource is affiliate marketing. Generally I don’t share my income stats anywhere. But whatever I earn it is 10X from my job. So I make decent income online & my goals for 2016 are set. I will work very hard to achieve these goals.
5. Which revenue source do you think is the most effective for bloggers/marketers?
There are many income resources for bloggers , they can work with various affiliate network available in the market. Some popular affiliate network or marketplaces are :
Also bloggers can do lot with their blogs like sponsored reviews, selling advertisements on blogs, Video reviews, paid links, Sidebar links, Footer links, Brand partnerships for guest posting, consulting services & many more things they can do with their blogs.
You can see how I use my blog: BloggersIdeas.com as my service blog. I just don’t put content I provide services and make money out of it. Check out some Best Affiliate Program for Bloggers and Affiliate Marketers
Takeaway: Affiliate marketing is definitely one of the great sources for bloggers to make more money online. But to be able to successfully make more money from affiliate marketing, you need to understand what makes people buy. If you know what triggers them to buy, you will never have troubles in making more money from it.
6. What do you think about blogging in India?
Blogging in India is very different from other countries. If you tell other people around you that you do blogging and make money, they will see you like you are bluffing with them. Here, people don’t realize the potential of blogging. Bloggers in India are highly successful and stand toe to toe with high end corporate honchos. I know many of my friends who are 18 yrs old and they are making money than engineers or MBA’ across market. Blogging in India is still undiscovered gold.
Takeaway: You can make more than any corporate job could earn from blogging. Just don’t consider blogging as a money making machine. Find out genuine ways to add value to others lives from your blogs, you will be well rewarded in the long run.
7. How to convince parents to start supporting their child to start a blog? How did you convince your parents?
This questions relates to my story as till now my parents are not aware that I am doing full time blogging, they still think that I am doing job. Because my family is little bit old fashion and they think too much about the society. But I am very different guy in my family I did what my heart said. So I am following my dreams now.
In India, it is a big challenge for kids to convince their parents for full time blogging. Parents always think about job security so they don’t want their children to put in risk. But in life if you want to fulfil your desires then you need to take risk and go against your family. Just like I did it. I went against my family as they always wanted me to do job. Job sucks and I cannot be in cage from 9 to 5.
Takeaway: Convincing parents is really hard. Follow your passion instead of what others say about you. If you love what you do, you will be successful no matter what.
8. What are your 3 favourite ways to generate traffic to your blog?
For traffic generation always use social media very wisely. Learn how you can use social media for your blog traffic.
- Share your content on every social media channel like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest & many more. Every social platform is different so learn what works best for each channel.
- Share content on blogging communities like Bizsugar, scoop.it & other big sharing communities.
- Build relationships with experts and share content with them. By building healthy relationship you can get lot of referral traffic from your fellow bloggers.
Takeaway: Content marketing is the surefire way to get more readers. Write what your readers want to read and share. Also build relationships with other bloggers as they send you more traffic, sales and readers.
9. Which blogging tools do you recommend for BloggersPassion readers?
There are many blogging tools available for bloggers. There are few I would mention here:
- Ahrefs.com: For backlink spying
- SEMrush: For keyword research
- Hootsuite for social sharing
- Google Analytics & Adwords
- Facebook power editor
Although there are many tools available in the market these are few tools which I would recommend to your readers.
Takeaway: You need the help of powerful tools such as SEMrush to drive more traffic, increase your sales etc. Don’t mind about investing some bucks in using few tools. They all worth it.
10. If you had to start from scratch, what would you do different? What’s your #1 blogging mistake?
The #1 blogging mistake I made was choosing bad hosting for my blog. Hosting is one of crucial part of your blog. If your hosting is poor then your blog will be down and will face many database issues. Your users will be annoyed and Google will push your rankings down.
There are other mistakes too that I made like choosing wrong niche, bad keyword selection, making basic SEO mistakes, poor on page SEO mistakes & few more. So make mistakes but always learn from them. Don’t repeat the same mistakes again.
Takeaway: I agree with what Jitendra said about choosing the bad hosting. It not only kills your search rankings but gives a terrible bad experience to your website visitors by loading your website really slow. Don’t fall for cheap or free hosting. You need to invest in reliable hosting services like Bluehost. It’s not only cheaper but also used by millions of bloggers worldwide.
